Some things just need to be repeated, like this verse. Much like these thoughts, which I started to type this morning and realized I’d already talked about more than once. Sometimes, we all just need a reminder, so here’s a throwback post from March 2011.
I have to say it… This is a week I’ve been looking forward to! Daniel is one of my favorite books in the Bible, probably because I’ve done three studies on it. You should see my Bible. It falls open to Daniel automatically, and the pages are dark with the ink of my notes. So much prophecy in this book… and so much has already come true. Don’t get me started, or we’ll be here all month. My favorite Daniel verse is simple, and I’ll share it in a second. But first, please drop down to the comments and share the verses from Daniel that touch you the most. I love seeing your insights!
Daniel 2:28a–But there is a God in heaven…
Stop right there. Just stop. All of Daniel boils down to this phrase. All of the Bible boils down to this phrase. Let’s just say it now… Everything boils down to this phrase. This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible, one I find myself saying a lot. It doesn’t matter how insane life gets or how out of control the world seems, “there is a God in heaven.” That will always be true.
Know how you have those life verses that you cling to when it seems like nothing is stable? Well, this is mine. It’s like a deep breath after you’ve held your breath underwater for too long. No matter what curve ball life smacks you with, this one thing is always true. It makes me think of the Rich Mullins song (which Third Day covered in their typical amazing fashion) “Creed.” It says, “I believe what I believe, that’s what makes me what I am. I did not make it, no it is making me. It is the very truth of God and not the invention of any man.” Know what I believe? You guessed it…
“There is a God in heaven.”
